Registered Dietitian Nutrition

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to serve as our Wellness Center Nutrition Specialist. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing and implementing nutrition programs tailored to the specific needs of older adults, ensuring their overall health and well-being.

Reporting directly to the Director of Physical Wellness, the Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Specialist will play an integral role in developing and implementing nutrition programs tailored to the specific needs of adults over 55, ensuring their overall health and well-being. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and empathetic individual dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our community members. This individual will be committed to providing nutritious meals and comprehensive wellness programs that support the unique dietary needs of aging individuals.

Responsibilities:

Individualized Nutrition Counseling for Older Adults:

Conduct personalized nutritional assessments for clients, considering age-related health concerns and dietary preferences.

Create individualized nutrition plans to address the unique nutritional needs of aging individuals.

Group Nutrition Education and Workshops:

Organize and lead nutrition education sessions and workshops, focusing on topics relevant to aging, such as bone health, heart health, and managing chronic conditions.

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive wellness programs for older adults.

Meal Planning and Nutritional Analysis:

Work closely with food services to design and analyze menus that align with nutritional standards and promote overall health of older adults.

Provide expertise in adapting menus to accommodate specific dietary restrictions common among the elderly.

Stay Informed about Older Adult Nutrition Trends:

Stay updated on the latest research and trends in nutrition and wellness related to older adults.

Apply evidence-based practices to enhance nutritional services for our older adult community.

Collaboration with Community Care Team:

Effectively communicate and collaborate with care providers, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, to ensure holistic and coordinated care.

Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss and adjust participant care plans.

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree from an accredited dietetics program.

Current registration as a Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Three to five years of experience in a clinical or community nutrition setting, with a focus on older adult nutrition.

Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and evidence-based practices for older adults.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a care team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Specialty credentials in Gerontological Nutrition and/or Diabetes Care.

Experience working in senior centers, assisted living facilities, or similar environments.

Knowledge of nutritional requirements for common age-related health conditions.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
