We will depart Evergreen Commons on Monday, October 16 and arrive in Somerset, Pennsylvania where we will spend our first evening. After enjoying the included continental breakfast, we will depart and continue on our journey. Upon arrival in Washington, D.C., we will stop at Union Station and have lunch (at our own expense). Following lunch we will meet our guide who will take us on a tour of the city. After an included dinner, our guide will continue our tour of the monuments by night.
Wednesday, October 18, we will visit the Smithsonian Museums on the Mall and visit with our Congressman in the Capitol Building where we will have a tour. Later that afternoon, we will depart for Williamsburg to check in to our hotel and enjoy the included dinner together.
Thursday, October 19 will be a day at Colonial Williamsburg. We will meet our guide, who will give us a private orientation and tour. The Governor's Palace, the Capitol, Authentic 18th Century exhibition sites such as the Courthouse, Gaol, Magazine, and home of Peyton Randolph and George Wythe are included. Listen for the murmuring of the revolution, mingled with the day to day conversations of the trades people and politicians. We will return to the hotel to relax before an included dinner together.
Friday, October 20 will start our journey for home. We will stop for an included lunch at Michie Tavern where we will feast on authentic 18th Century Fare. Following lunch we will visit Jefferson's Monticello in Charlottesville, Virginia. Feel the power of place at Monticello. Learn about Thomas Jefferson, the ideas of freedom, and the realities of slavery that made the United States. After the tour, we will continue our drive and stay at Monroeville, Pennsylvania.
Saturday, October 21 we are homeward bound with an estimated time of arrival at 6:30pm.
